• Important Information on Our Work Based Learning Advisory Program

    Dear Students and Parents:

For the first two weeks in January 2018, all students will participate in Work-Based Learning Advisory. Work Based Learning (WBL) provides students a range of experiences that are designed to create meaningful linkages between work and school and provide students with meaningful exposure to successful professionals in the Engineering and Architectural fields. WBL Advisory is aligned to the Career Development Occupational Studies (CDOS) Learning Standards.  All students, including students with disabilities, who participate in standard State assessments and complete career preparation experiences aligned to the CDOS commencement-level learning standards can earn the CDOS in any of the following ways:

    • As an endorsement to any diploma (local, Regents, or advanced Regents)
    • As a +1 option in lieu of a fifth Regents exam when working towards a HS diploma

Every NYC P-TECH school has its own industry and college partners, and offer different career themes as well as Associate Degrees. But while no two schools are the same, there are core elements that you will find across all of our NYC P-TECH schools.

  • P-Tech schools offer students a new approach to learning, bringing together the best elements of high school, college, and career.
  • Our scholars will participate in college classes when they are ready, and develop workplace skills through mentoring, internships, and more.
  • Students graduate with an industry-recognized associate degree and the skills to succeed in high-growth industries.

National Academy Foundations (NAF)

Sponsors a network of over 500 high school career academies across the United States. Built on industry-approved and career-themed curricula, internships in the work place for students, and the support of Advisory Board members from the business world and higher education.  Project Lead the Way (PLTW) and the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering partner with NAF in supporting City Poly’s Academy of Engineering model.
